January 6, 2013 – Last year, 2012, was an amazing year for Boxing.
Floyd Mayweather went to hell with Miguel Cotto, suffered a bloody nose and got beat up like never before but was still able to tally lopsided scores against the boricua. He then went to jail shortly after.
Sergio Martinez dominated Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. before being clubbed by a phantom punch that left him scrambling for his senses in the 12th round, managing to escape with a decision win by the skin of his teeth.
Nonito Donaire fought four times and capped it off with a vicious left hook finish of Jorge Arce that sent the Mexican to retirement. He’s also the cleanest fighter in the sport being the only one to undergo full random blood and urine testing 365 days a year.
And Juan Manuel Marquez finally got what he so longed for, a devastating and shocking knockout victory over rival Manny Pacquiao.
